The Embed tab now offers the plugin's own page (URL), that page in an iframe
(with the sizes), and its own bundle + element (JavaScript), each with one plain
sentence and one Copy button. They embed the plugin whose Share was pressed, even
nested in Plugin Studio, Deep Research or Posterverse.
Where the codes point: a new build-config key shareBaseUrl, baked as
__DOXA_SHARE_BASE__ and overridable per embed (profile-config.shareBaseUrl) or
per page (window.MAP_SHARE_BASE_URL), https only (or a local test server). It is
committed EMPTY: the codes then point at the tree the bundle is served from, so
the stable site gives its own public URLs by construction. embedBaseUrl stays
empty, so the manifest's snippets and a dropped tree are unchanged.
The JavaScript code is the plugin's embed.script from that tree's manifest
(library/utils/publicEmbed.js, fetched once when Embed opens, default
credentials), made absolute, with integrity dropped from our unversioned bundle
URL (a pinned hash would break every partner's embed at the next release). A
plugin that tree does not carry gets a plain note instead of codes that would
404. Share this page stays first; the explanation and the 5 steps stay. English
only (parity debt 19 per locale). The library index lists publicEmbed.js.
key-cities is a gated profile: generate-tree leaves it out of the manifest and the pages. Its
bundle file was still in public/dx-maps/key-cities/key-cities.js, committed, and the landing
freshness pass rebuilt it into public/ every time it looked "stale", so any host that serves or
drops in the tree folder whole shipped it.
- vite.config.js builds a gated bundle into .gated/<tree>/ (ignored by git) instead of public/.
- check:composite-freshness skips gated bundles: they have no committed bytes to be fresh against.
- The committed public/dx-maps/key-cities/ is removed. History is not rewritten.
- generate-tree removes a gated folder it finds in the tree (an older build, or a landing that kept the
tree's side of a conflict), so the tree it writes is clean whatever came before. Measured: a planted
public/dx-maps/key-cities/key-cities.js fails the gate, and one regeneration removes it.
- The gated list is read in one place, internal/_tree-name.mjs, beside the tree name.
- check:gated-not-in-tree (gates:pre) fails if a gated name has a folder in the tree, a manifest
entry, or a page referencing its script, and proves each arm on a planted leak first. It FAILED
on the tree before this change (key-cities/ is in the tree) and PASSES after.
The data tables are left alone on purpose: key-cities.json also feeds the production Cities with
Internet map, and whether that dataset should be public is a separate decision.
The output tree's name has always been configurable (vite.doxa-maps-build-config.json "name"),
but 61 tooling files ignored it and hardcoded 'doxa-maps' (181 literals), so a rename would have
moved the build while the gates kept reading the old folder.
- internal/_tree-name.mjs reads it once (validated as one URL-safe path segment; falls back to the
historical name) and exports TREE_NAME / TREE_NAME_RE; `node internal/_tree-name.mjs` prints it
for shell scripts.
- A codemod rewrote 171 literals in internal/ to TREE_NAME; the regex literals, messages with
backticks, atomic-public-swap.sh (fails loudly if the name cannot be read), build-lock.sh and
vite.config.js (its duplicate readMfeName is gone) were done by hand.
- The name is unchanged: old and new tooling produce all 1408 files under public/ byte for byte.
Code lines still naming the tree in internal/ + vite.config.js: 2, both intended (the helper's
fallback, the private-repo-name pattern in public-hygiene-check).
This renames nothing visible; the eventual rename becomes a one-line config change.
